FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an appointment?
Yes — we work by appointment only. Book online any time, or message us by email, SMS or WhatsApp on 07482 900440.
How can I pay?
We accept cash and all major credit/debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Amex and Diners/Discover.
Do you charge a no-show fee?
Yes, £20 for missed appointments, and for any cancellation made less than 24 hours in advance.
Why can't you give me a price over the phone?
Price depends on your dog's breed, size, coat condition and the work involved, so we can only confirm it once we've seen your dog. Use our price list as a guide.
When should I start puppy grooming?
About ten days after the final vaccinations, with a bath and trim, then regular visits from there. Starting early makes it easier for your puppy long-term — and we offer a discounted introductory puppy cut.
Should I feed my dog before their appointment?
A small meal at least two hours beforehand is fine, and can help keep them comfortable during grooming.
Do I need to walk my dog before their appointment?
Please do — a walk beforehand releases energy and gives them a chance to go to the toilet, which makes grooming easier and more pleasant for everyone.
What shampoos do you use?
Only top-quality professional dog shampoos, chosen to suit your dog's specific coat type. We're always looking for the best products for your pet.
Can I stay with my pet?
We don't usually encourage it — most dogs behave better and focus more without their owner there as a distraction.
Can I bring treats or a toy?
Absolutely — treats and a favourite toy are welcome. Please let us know about any dietary needs or medical conditions first.
Will my dog be muzzled?
Very rarely — we'd rather build trust with your dog. Muzzling is reserved for dogs showing aggression or trying to bite the clippers or scissors, for everyone's safety.
My dog has fleas — is that a problem?
Please tell us in advance. We'll wash affected dogs with a flea shampoo (small extra fee applies) to protect the other dogs in our care.
Do you offer boarding, or use a drying box?
No to both — we're a grooming service only, and we never use drying boxes.
Do you empty anal glands?
We can check externally if you're concerned, but we don't do this routinely — it's usually best left to a vet, who can examine internally if there's a genuine issue.
How often should my dog be groomed?
Most dogs do best with a full groom every 4–8 weeks, depending on coat type and lifestyle. Wiry and double coats often need less frequent grooming; poodle-type and continuously-growing coats usually need it more often. We're happy to suggest a schedule at your dog's first visit.
What breed cut styles do you offer?
We can groom to breed standard or to a practical "teddy bear" pet trim — whichever suits your dog's coat and your day-to-day routine. Let us know your preference when booking, and we'll talk it through at the appointment.
Can you groom senior dogs or dogs with health conditions?
Yes, we're happy to groom senior dogs and those with conditions like arthritis, taking extra time and care with positioning and handling. Please let us know about any health issues in advance so we can plan the appointment around your dog's needs.
Do you trim nails only, without a full groom?
Yes, a nail-clip-only visit is available — get in touch for pricing.
Do you groom cats or other pets, or dogs only?
We specialise in dogs only.
What if my dog has skin allergies or sensitive skin?
Please tell us in advance — we'll use a suitable hypoallergenic or sensitive-skin shampoo where needed.
Can you groom two dogs from the same household together?
Each dog is groomed one-to-one, but we can usually book two household dogs back-to-back on the same visit — just ask when booking.
How long does a full groom take?
Usually around 2–3 hours, depending on your dog's size and coat condition.
